Samurai Inter‑Dojo Competition

ENTRY FEE: R250. R150 per Kata Team (R50pp)

ENTRIES CLOSE: 28 Feb 2024 (no late entries)

This is a friendly tournament open to all our students and is the perfect introduction to the competition arena.

This competition also serves as the Gauteng Championships qualifier for the more serious competitor.

This year we will have fun doing ippon kumite for all the 13 year and older competitors!

Brown and Black belts must please be available to serve as officials and judges.

WUKF Competition rules will be used, with the some exceptions/changes set out below.

Kata:
1. All kata categories will be only 1 round.

Kumite:
1. White or red bubble mitts.
2. Gum guards are compulsory.
3. Body protectors and Helmets for children are optional and if a helmet is worn, they don't have to wear a gum guard.
4. Under 7's may enter 7/8 yr kumite.

Belts:
Novice: Pre-School, White belts with stripes, White, Pre-Yellow, Yellow and Orange Belts
Intermediate: Green to Red 3 Belts
Advanced: Brown to Black Belts

General:
1. If less than 4 competitors in a category, it might be combined with another category.
2. Competitors are ONLY ALLOWED to compete in 1 kata and/or kumite team, not in multiple teams.

Ages: u7y; 07-08y; 09-10y; 11-12y
Male & Female categories

Novice: Pre-School, White belts with stripes, White, Pre-Yellow, Yellow and Orange Belts
* All Novice competitors can do Yoji Kata, Kihon Kata, Taikyoku Shodan or a Shitei Kata.
* Coaches may count for the novice competitors.

Intermediate: Green to Red 3 Belts
* u7y-10y must do a Shitei Kata
* 11-12y can do a Shitei/Sentei Kata

Ages: 13+y
Novice: White, Pre-Yellow, Yellow and Orange Belts
* Must do a Shitei Kata
* Coaches may count for the novice competitors.

Intermediate: Green to Red 3 Belts
* Can do a Shitei/Sentei Kata
* May NOT repeat in the event of a tie.

Advanced: Brown to Black Belts
* Can do a Tokui Kata
* May NOT repeat in the event of a tie.

Novice and Intermediate Belts must do Kihon (Basic) Combat.
Advanced Belts must do Chukyu (Intermediate) Combat.

Inclusive categories are for students with special needs and/or medical conditions, such as: ADHD, Physical disabilities, Profound hearing loss, Visual Impairments, Autism, Dyspraxia, Downs Syndrome, Epilepsy, Tourette’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s etc.
