General Information

Dear Friends,
It is indeed an honour and pleasure to welcome you all to the inaugural 2024 Southern
Africa WUKF Open Championships here in the beautiful country of Namibia. This
prestigious event will be held in Windhoek, Namibia, from the 19th to the 21st of
September 2024. We are honoured to host both our South African participants and
our esteemed international competitors from around the globe.

This event marks a significant milestone for the karate community in Southern Africa,
as we gather to celebrate excellence, discipline, and the spirit of martial arts. We are
excited to witness the display of skill, dedication, and sportsmanship that each of you
brings to this championship.

We are particularly delighted to announce that we will also have Karate Kids
divisions and Sanbon Kumite divisions for our younger or more inexperienced
competitors. This is a wonderful opportunity for the next generation of karateka's to
showcase their talents and gain valuable competition experience in a supportive
environment.

Additionally, we are pleased to offer officials the chance to obtain a Southern Africa
referee qualification at this championship. This initiative underscores our
commitment to fostering high standards of officiating and ensuring the continued
growth and development of karate in our region.

Namibia, with its stunning landscapes and warm hospitality, is the perfect backdrop
for this momentous occasion. We hope you take the time to explore and enjoy the
unique beauty and culture our country has to offer.

Best of luck to all the participants. May this championship build international
relationships, foster new friendships, strengthen bonds within the karate community,
and inspire each of you to achieve your personal best.

Please take note of the following:
• Unfortunately, no refunds will be issued for no-shows or competitors unable to participate due to illness on the day
of the tournament.
• We encourage all martial arts schools to provide referees, judges, and table officials to further develop officiating
capabilities for future tournaments in Namibia. We urge you to motivate your officials to volunteer, as this will
contribute to a smoother-running tournament and reduce the workload for each official.

A snack shop and food stand will be available for our hungry competitors and spectators, equipped with card payment facilities. Our dedicated officials will be catered to throughout the championship.

All payments and entries must be submitted to the martial arts school principal/dojo head. They are responsible for transferring the martial arts school entries as a bulk payment. No entries from individual students or parents will be accepted.

Please adhere to the closing date; entries close on 8 September 2024, at midnight. We need to finalize the following in advance:

• Compilation and finalization of Male & Female Divisions, identifying any errors or incorrect entries.
• Compilation and finalization of draw sheets for each division.
• Calculation of the total correct entries to plan the required number of floors for the tournament day.
• Determination of the total number of referees, judges, and jury table officials for the championship.
• Finalization of the Order of Events for the tournament.

Attached are the following documents:

• Competition Flyer
• Welcoming message
