General Information

Beginner: 0 - 1 year experience (White, Yellow, Orange)
Novice - Intermediate: 1 -4 years experience (Green, Blue, Purple)
Advanced: Brown and Black Belt

Quest of Champions is the premier karate tournament in Northern Idaho.

Grand Champion Trophies are available in the following divisions:

    Pee Wee
    Beginning (Youth)
    Intermediate (Youth)
    Advanced (Youth)
    Adult Under Black-Belt
    Black Belt (Kata & Sparring)
    Adaptive

Rank Description/Key:
Beginner - Novice: 0 - 1 year experience (White, Yellow, Orange)
Intermediate: 1 -4 years experience (Green, Blue, Purple)
Advanced: Brown and Black Belt
*Divisions may be combined at the discretion of the tournament host and administration.*

First, second and third place winners in all division receive Japanese swords.

Saturday, May 10th, 2025
Schedule: (All times are PST)
- 7:45 AM - Doors open
- 7:45 AM - Athlete check-in begins
- 9:00 AM - **MANDATORY** Referee/Judges/Coach meeting begins
- 9:30 AM - National Anthem
- Tournament begins with Black Belt divisions, followed by Youth under Black Belt

Coaches:
- Coaches must attend the morning meeting to be eligible to coach.

- $6 for ages 7 and over

Order of Competition
1. Black Belts (Advanced): Kobudo Kata, Kumite (35+), followed by Youth ages and lower ranks
2. Age Groups: Starting with 4-year-olds
3. Rank: Beginning with White Belts (Beginners) and advancing upward to higher rank
4. Events: Kata, Kobudo, Kumite, Blocker Sparring, Grappling (Bring all gear to the ring)

Tournament Rules
This is a NON-CONTACT tournament.
- Protective Gear: Required: gloves, helmet, mouthguard, and groin protection (males).
- Contact Violations: 3 violations will result in disqualification.
- Disqualification: Any contestant causing injury maliciously will be disqualified immediately.

Specific Divisions Information
Combining Divisions:
Divisions may be combined by the following:
Weapons - Male, Female and age groups may be combined together
Forms (Kata) - Male, Female and age groups may be combined together
Sparring (Kumite) - Age and gender groups maybe combined together.

- 9 AM on Saturday: Overview and Q&A session at the Coaches & Referee Clinic.

Adult Male Black Belt Kata and Sparring,
Adult Female Black Belt Kata and Sparring
Pee Wee Grand Champion
Beginning Jr. Grand Champion,

Advanced Jr. Grand Champion,
and a Adaptive Grand Champion.
Adult Beginning and Adult Intermediate.

- No video recording allowed during sessions.
- $35 per person

- Samurai Swords: Awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in all Kata, Kobudo, Kumite divisions, Blocker Sparring, and Grappling.
